Skin Tutorial

People are always asking about skin colours & how to shade them so here's how I do them...

First colour all over with a flesh tone pencil (I use Marco Raffine pencils & Whsmith pencils in all my colourings) ...

Next darken the edges with a tan brown pencil & also the usual dark places - under hair, under chin & under nose...

Next her give her a little blush & she's good to go...

Hope this helps show how easy it is to get skin looking great :)

Lacy Sunshine

Colouring pics has given me so many great opportunities & among these is being asked to join colouring teams for he artists. As well as being on Rick St Dennis design team as a colourist, I've also been asked by Lacy Sunshine creator Heather Valentin to join theirs. Of course I had to say yes, such cute images, how could I not.
So here's my first colourings for them...

These cuties can both be found here....

New Book by Bennett Klein

So I haven't been here in a few weeks life's got in the way, but I've been colouring & buying books I need & must have ;)

My newest one is Colour My Sketchbook by Bennett Klein.
Firstly this is a truly beautiful book & I was a little scared of screwing it up.

I love the images in here & the pages are good quality & one sided, so no bleed through issues.
Really hope you check this book out & see for yourself.

RSD Fantasie 2005

One of my favourite colouring books has to be The World of Rick St Dennis. There is just such a great mix of gorgeous designs in this book. I've spent the last 2 days working on this one & love how it's turned out.

I coloured this using my usual Marco Raffine & Whsmith pencils, with soft pastels added to the background. I wanted to have lightening bolts around it so I used an eraser & a shaky hand to add these.
Hope you like it 😀

For more info on all Rick's books check out his blog here....

Toadstool Island

I haven't picked up Doodle Invasion book in a while, so that's where I ended up last night.

This was coloured again using Marco Raffine & Whsmith pencils, soft pastels & my favourite white gel pen.

Doodle Invasion by Kerby Rosanes is available to buy from Amazon.

Oh Christmas Tree

With the start of the Christmas ads & Christmas movies appearing on tv, I was feeling a little Christmassy this week. So the tree image in Johanna Basford's Enchanted Forest was just crying out for a snowy scene.

Coloured using pencils, soft pastels & white acrylic paint.
Love how these books can let your imagination run & create your own personal pics.
